From E-Waste Recycling to Real Impact: 300 Laptops, Countless Smiles

All Smiles at a United Way Techquity Distribution Event

Today, we had the privilege of attending a United Way Techquity Distribution Event—and we’re still smiling.

Through our partnership with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, 300 like-new laptops were found in new homes for individuals and families who needed them most. Once part of the e-waste stream, these devices have been given a second life, proving that e-waste recycling can do more than protect the planet. It can transform lives.

As we walked into the event, we were greeted by Christal West, a longtime community leader and all-star volunteer with Amani United, a neighborhood group committed to grassroots change that partners with United Way. The first thing she asked us was:

"Do you know how many smiles you’ve created?"
That moment stopped us in our tracks.

It’s easy to get caught up in the logistics—data sanitization, refurbishing, inventory tracking, pickup coordination—but Christal’s words were a beautiful reminder of the human side of our work. These aren’t just laptops; they’re stepping stones toward brighter futures.

This event is just one of many distribution efforts we’re proud to support throughout Wisconsin. Each reflects what’s possible when communities, nonprofits, and businesses unite to bridge the digital divide through responsible e-waste recycling and reuse.

We’re incredibly proud to be part of Techquity’s efforts to close that divide, and today reminded us that we’re not just recycling tech, we’re restoring possibility.

Thank you to United Way, Christal West, Amani United, and every partner and volunteer who helped make the day so meaningful.
